Countertop replacement

Countertop Replacement

Replacing countertops is one of the most noticeable updates you can make without a full remodel. If your cabinets are sound, we can remove the old tops, template the existing cabinets and install new stone, often with a new sink and backsplash at the same time.

At the free in-home consultation we check cabinet condition and level, how the old tops are attached and what's behind the backsplash, so your estimate reflects the real job.

Our process

How your project works

No showroom visit needed. We come to you, you choose your slab where you like, and our own team fabricates and installs it.

  1. Free in-home consultation

We come to you. In your kitchen, bath or backyard we look at the space, take preliminary measurements, talk through layout, edges, sinks and overhangs, and review material options with you. Your estimate follows from this visit, at no cost.

  2. Slab selection

Pick your slab at MSI Surfaces or Natural Stone Resources, where we are an authorized dealer, or at any other slab yard you like. With natural stone, the slab you choose is the slab we fabricate, so we'll tell you what to check before you commit: size, thickness, finish and how the veining will fall across your layout.

  3. Templating

Once cabinets or bases are set, we template the exact surfaces: walls, corners, appliance openings and fixture locations. Templating sets every cut, seam and overhang.

  4. In-house fabrication

Your slab is cut, edged and finished in GlamourStone's own fabrication shop: sink and cooktop cutouts, edge profiles, mitered waterfall joints and the vein layout we agreed on.

  5. Installation

Our team sets, levels, seams and finishes the stone in your home, prepares openings for your plumber, cleans up and walks you through care for your specific material.

Good to know

Things to consider

These are the details that shape an accurate estimate and a clean installation.

Existing backsplash

Tile backsplashes are often set on top of the old countertop. Removing the countertop can damage the bottom row of tile, so plan for a new backsplash or a repair.

Cabinet level and strength

Stone is heavier than laminate or tile. Cabinets should be level and sound. We'll point out any shimming or reinforcement needed.

Sink swap

Replacement is a good time to switch to an undermount sink. The new sink should be on site or specified before templating.

Kitchen downtime

Between removal and installation you may be without a working sink. We'll explain the sequence so you can plan.

FAQ

Common questions

Ask us anything else during your free in-home consultation.

Can you install new stone on my existing cabinets?

Usually, if they're level and structurally sound. We'll check during the free in-home consultation.

Will removing my old countertops damage the backsplash?

It can, especially with tile set on top of the countertop. We'll assess it and include options in your estimate.

Can I reuse my existing sink?

Sometimes, if it's in good condition and suits the new stone. Undermount installation needs a sink designed for it.
